Product Description

Detect Diabetes and Pre-diabetes in just 60 Seconds. The Vytaliving at-home test kit provides a simple way to discover hyperglycemia (high blood glucose) and ketosis (high levels of ketones) in the body through a straightforward, easy-to-use, urine test.

What is Diabetes?

Diabetes is a disease state characterised by the body's inability to create or react to insulin. People with diabetes experience higher levels of circulating blood glucose after meals and for a longer amount of time. This is because insulin is a hormone that regulates how much glucose is in the blood and whether this is moved to the storage form of energy. Due to inadequate insulin, or the body's inability to react to insulin blood glucose remains in the blood. This can lead to acute effects like fatigue, lack of energy, shaking, and dizziness, or chronic effects such as damage to kidneys, chronic fatigue, damage to the eyes and more.

There are several forms of diabetes, the two that are most commonly referred to are Type 1 and Type Diabetes. Type 1 Diabetes has a more genetic-leading factor and is often diagnosed from a young age. This is when the body is to create insulin on its own. Alternatively, Type 2 diabetes is more commonly brought about by lifestyle factors that affect metabolic health over time. For example, chronic overconsumption of simple carbohydrates, a sedentary lifestyle, central fat storage and more. This type of diabetes, if caught early, is reversible. This is more commonly seen in people over the age of 450 years.

Diabetes must be diagnosed quickly as it can have long-term effects on well-being. Not to mention, that if the Type 2 form of diabetes is caught swiftly it can be reversed with changes to lifestyle, diet and exercise.

When the body is unable to use its primary source of energy (glucose), it converts fats into energy sources, which produces ketones. Ketones in the urine can be a clear indicator of diabetes.

How to use the Test

  1. Collect urine in a clean, dry container that allows complete immersion of all the fields on the test strip.
  2. Dip the test strip into the urine for no more than 2 seconds. The test must be dipped to ensure that the reagent areas are fully immersed in the urine sample.
  3. Be careful to draw the edge of the strip along the brim of the vessel to remove excess urine. While doing this be careful not to drag the test patches along the brim of the vessel, only the other side of the test.
  4. Start a timer for 60 seconds.
  5. Prepare some kitchen towel and turn the strip on its side to remove any remaining urine. Excessive urine on the strip may cause an incorrect result may occur.
  6. Take the used test strip and compare it to the colours of the reagent pads exactly after 60 seconds, or the Leukocytes reading after 90~120 seconds. While comparing, keep the strip horizontally to prevent possible mixing of chemicals from excessive urine.

What does the kit contain?

Each pack contains 1 foil pouch with 2 test strips.

Cautions

Once the silver pouch is open please reseal the pouch. Be mindful that the remaining strip remains stable for up to 30 days and must be used before this. Please dispose of test after the 30 days if unused.

Warning and Precautions

For in vitro diagnostic use only.

Once the pouch has been opened, the remaining strip remains stable for up to 30 days as long as the pouch is immediately re-sealed.

Storage and Handling

Store in a cool, dry place at temperatures between 2℃ ~ 30℃. Do not store the strips in a refrigerator or freezer. Store away from moisture and light. As long as the foil pouch has not been opened, the product is stable up to the expiry date printed on the foil. Do not touch test areas of urine reagent strips. Do not open foil pouch until ready to use. All test strips will need to be used immediately once the foil has been opened.

Discolouration or darkening of the test pads may indicate deterioration. If this is evident, or if test results are questionable or inconsistent with expected finding, confirm that the product is within its expiration date and is reacting properly using known negative and positive control materials. Do not use after the expiry date.

Specimen Collection and Preparation

Collect urine in a clean, dry container that allows complete immersion of all the fields on the test strip. Do not add preservatives. Test the specimen as soon as possible, with the sample well mixed but not centrifuged. The use of fresh morning urine is recommended for optimal nitrite tests, as well as for the valid determination of bilirubin and urobilinogen, since these compounds are unstable when exposed to light. If immediate testing is not possible, the sample should be stored in the refrigerator, but not frozen, and then brought to room temperature before used in the test. Unpreserved urine at room temperature may undergo pH changes due to microbial proliferation, which may interfere with protein determination. If cleanly voided specimens are not collected from females, positive results for leukocytes may be found due to contamination from outside the urinary tract. Skin cleansers containing chlorhexidine may affect protein test results if specimen contamination occurs.
